Is sustainability just a buzzword?
Sustainability has always been important, and today more so than ever. Why is it so important for the UK? UK is among those nations that are being affected by the climate change. The country is already experiencing more warmer-winters and hotter-summers. The most recent decade (2012 to 2021) has been on average 1.0°C warmer than the 1961 to 1990 levels- thanks to greenhouse gases. UK built environment accounts for 25-35% of greenhouse emissions- a figure higher than the transport sector (34%). It sounds damning but auspiciously the concentration rate in the country have been dropping since 1990s. The central government is pushing hard to reduce all emissions to net-zero by 2050. Will this an easy journey?
